FOLLICULAR UNIT TRANSPLANTATION (FUT)

FUT

The Follicular unit transplantation (FUT), also known as “Strip,” is a method of hair restoration surgery where hair is transplanted exclusively in its naturally occurring, individual follicular units. Dr. Sciacca and his team will harvest the donor strip for hair replacement from the back of the head.

With the use of a dissecting microscope or magnification, we dissect the donor strip into follicular units (also known as grafts) made up of either 1, 2, 3 or 4 hairs in each follicle. Using small calibre blades (0.6-0.9 mm), we then place mini incisions on the recipient’s scalp areas and these tiny follicular unit grafts will be expertly placed, in order to create the most natural-looking result.

The procedure is done under local anaesthesia and the surgical wound is closed using staples – it sounds scary and intense, but for most people the scar is about as wide as a pencil-drawn line. The staples are removed after 8 to 10 days.

Timeless Hair Transplant Clinic is proud to offer the FUT service, and we confidently believe that the cosmetic results are equally as superb as the FUE technique.
